Top 10 List of Fun Activities to Start Your Summer!

Here are some great events to kick-off your summer!

1. Film Night in the Park has officially kicked off! Feel like sitting outside in a park on a blanket and watching a good movie? From May through September, whether in Marin or San Francisco, you can enjoy this great opportunity to be outside under the stars watching a film.  Click here for the schedule and location.   

 2. The Annual Dipsea Race takes place on June 13th! If you are not interested in running the scenic but challenging 7.4 miles from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach, then come out and cheer on all the athletes.  

3. The Italian Street Painting Festival is a feast for the eyes! This event is on June 12 – 13th in San Rafael and benefits “Youths in Arts.”   

 4. The Marin Art Festival features 250 artists from June 19 – June 20th and serves gourmet food while you stroll along the lovely venue: the lagoon at the Civic Center. Admission is $10 and is a wonderful summer day event.

 5.    The Mountain Play is performed in the amphitheater on Mt. Tam for six weekends and has already begun. “Guys and Dolls” is the fabulous play this year and the last performance is scheduled for June 20th.

 6. Who doesn’t love free concerts in the park? Every Sunday at 2 pm Stern Grove in San Francisco offers free concerts!

 7. Mill Valley offers a gourmet Wine & Food Festival on June 27th. Click here for more information.  

  8. Many local town festivals take place in June and July to celebrate summer. Here are a few festivals that take place on June 12 – 13th in Fairfax and Novato.  

9. The Marin County Fair will hold its annual festival from July 1 – July 5th. There’s a great line-up of concerts, and if you’re into music yourself, perhaps you’ll want to try out for the singing starts competition and dancing stars competition. Get ready for lots of fun!  

 10. The Annual Marin/Scapes Festival starts in July in Larspur at the  beautiful Escalle Winery.  A wonderful way to support local artists, drink wine, and enjoy a summer day!
